I am really glad to see that empathy, rather than sympathy, cards are finally making their way to the market. While "I'm sorry for your loss" is an appropriate sentiment, it feels empty to me. And what about cards for families that are practically living at the hospital to care for one of their own or recently received a difficulty diagnosis? There are so few options.
I'm going to do what I can to make the world a more compassionate place by creating cards for these circumstances. The first edition cards are all angels with caring, compassionate words inside just in case you aren't sure what to say. These four cards are available at The Ways of David, an Etsy shop.
The following words are found inside the cards. I hope they help you in offering your support, care, and compassion to someone in need.
"There are no words.
"Grief lasts as long as love.
"Call me any time, day or night.
I will listen to you.
I will be silent with you.
I will cry with you.
I will always have tissues to share."
"Grief is not a task to finish. It is a new way of being and a new way of seeing whom you love. We love and care about you."
